About Stem Cell Therapy

Find some basic questions about the Stem Cell Therapy.

What are Wharton´s jelly mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs)?

Stem cells are the body’s raw materials — cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are created. Mesenchymal stem cells are adult stem cells that have self-renewal, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, signaling, and differentiation properties. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), self-renewal capacity is characterized by their ability to divide and develop into multiple specialized cell types present in a specific tissue or organ. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can be sourced from a variety of tissue including adipose tissue (fat), bone marrow, umbilical cord tissue, blood, liver, dental pulp, and skin.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a type of cell used in treating various diseases due to their unique abilities. They can renew themselves, develop into different types of cells, and have strong anti-inflammatory and immune-regulating effects. Studies conducted both in labs (in vitro) and in living organisms (in vivo) have helped us understand how MSCs work, as well as their safety and effectiveness in medical treatments.

Research shows that MSCs have diverse abilities, allowing them to be used in many medical settings, especially for conditions involving tissue damage or degeneration. Recently, scientists have found that MSCs from umbilical cord tissue (UC-MSCs) may be even more powerful than those from other sources, potentially making them even more effective in treatments.

Anti-inflammatory: MSCs also help reduce harmful inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a natural process that helps protect and heal the body, but too much of it can be damaging. MSCs help control excessive inflammation, which aids tissue repair and reduces the negative effects of chronic inflammation.

Immunomodulatory (Immune-Regulating): Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) have the unique ability to balance the immune system by enhancing inflammation when the immune response is underactive and suppressing it when overactive. This “fine-tuning” of the immune response helps prevent the immune system from mistakenly attacking the body’s own tissues, a hallmark of autoimmune diseases.

Multiple peer-reviewed studies have found Mesenchymal Stem Cell therapy to be a safe procedure. Furthermore, there are no reports in scientific literature of long-term negative side effects, and our findings align with this evidence.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) exhibit a degree of immunosuppressive activity, which means they are generally not subject to the same immune responses as other foreign cells. MSCs derived from umbilical cord tissue are considered immunologically privileged and are universally accepted by the body, significantly reducing the risk of rejection. Because these cells are essentially “brand new” and have not yet been claimed by the immune system, they do not trigger a typical immune reaction.

Moreover, unlike organ transplants, where compatibility between donor and recipient blood products (such as HLA matching) is crucial, umbilical cord tissue-derived MSCs do not require such matching and face no risk of rejection when administered. This makes them a safe and effective option for stem cell therapy without the complications often seen in other forms of treatment.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), especially those from umbilical cord tissue, are designed to avoid getting stuck in the lungs because of their size and their ability to move efficiently through the bloodstream. While MSCs might briefly pass through the lungs after being injected into the body (a phenomenon known as the pulmonary first pass effect), they are skilled at finding and targeting areas in the body that need healing, such as areas with inflammation or injury.

Even though MSCs might temporarily stay in the lungs, this doesn’t reduce their effectiveness. In fact, while in the lungs, they release helpful signals that support healing and help regulate the immune system. Ongoing research and improvements in how MSCs are delivered continue to show that these cells are a highly effective tool for promoting healing and tissue regeneration in medicine.

The primary goal of our protocol is to significantly reduce chronic low-grade inflammation over an extended period, promoting long-term health benefits. Stem cells have a unique ability to home in on areas of inflammation in the body, aiding in the regeneration of damaged tissues, reducing inflammation, and modulating the immune system. This process helps improve overall health and quality of life.

Stem cells have shown great promise in delaying the aging process and promoting overall vitality. As we age, our body’s regenerative abilities naturally decline, but stem cells can help counteract this by stimulating the repair and regeneration of tissues. They create a protective shield that helps defend against the cellular damage caused by aging. This “shield” acts to absorb the impacts of aging, potentially slowing down its effects and promoting a more youthful state.

Recent studies suggest that stem cell therapy, particularly when combined with anti-aging genes, may help rejuvenate the body, maintain the balance of these genes, and extend both health and lifespan. By enhancing tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and improving immune function, stem cells could offer a powerful tool in slowing the aging process and improving quality of life.

The benefits of stem cell therapy for preventing aging include:

  • Increased energy and vitality
  • Enhanced physical performance and endurance
  • Improved hair quality and thickness
  • Boosted libido
  • Reduced pain and discomfort
  • Increased strength, balance, and mobility
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Overall improvement in well-being and quality of life
  • Better immune system regulation
  • Reduction in inflammation and related markers

The use of adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is generally considered ethically acceptable and is not subject to the same concerns as fetal and embryonic stem cells. Both the Catholic Church and the Southern Baptist Convention have issued statements supporting the research and application of adult stem cells for human disease treatment, considering them an ethical alternative to fetal and embryonic stem cells. Similarly, many Jewish religious authorities have expressed support for stem cell research, particularly when it involves adult stem cells, as long as the research is conducted in a manner that respects human dignity and follows ethical guidelines. In Judaism, there is a general emphasis on the importance of preserving and improving life, which aligns with the potential benefits of stem cell therapies, especially those that do not involve the destruction of embryos.

In this context, MSC therapy is widely regarded as a promising and ethically acceptable approach to medical treatment, as it does not raise the same moral or religious concerns associated with other forms of stem cell research.

Different medical conditions require different treatments; additionally, each patient is unique and requires individualized care. For a basic overview of our recommended protocol, please view the specific condition you are interested in under “Treatments”. If you do not see your condition listed, please fill out the Apply form and we will connect you with a specialist.

The method of stem cell administration depends on the specific condition being treated and the symptoms involved. Stem cells can be delivered in several ways, including locally at the site of injury or pain, intravenously (through the bloodstream) or via a nebulizer (for respiratory conditions). The most appropriate method will be determined based on your individual needs and the area being treated.

For intravenous (IV) injections, the procedure is typically quick and minimally uncomfortable. You may experience a slight pinch or pressure as the needle is inserted, but this sensation is usually brief and mild. Most patients tolerate it well without significant discomfort.

When it comes to joint injections, we understand that concerns about pain are common. To minimize any discomfort, we use guided imaging techniques to ensure precise placement. While you might feel some pressure or mild sensations during the injection, we strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

It’s important to remember that individual experiences can vary. Some patients may experience mild discomfort during recovery, which could last for a few days to weeks, but this is usually temporary. Everyone’s pain tolerance and recovery time are different, and we are here to support you throughout the process.

If you have any concerns or experience discomfort beyond what’s expected, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities, and we provide the best care possible.

Most patients experience minimal to no recovery time following stem cell therapy. While many can resume their normal activities shortly after the procedure, your physician will provide specific aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. These guidelines will help you understand what to expect and how to care for yourself after the treatment.

While most patients experience little to no side effects, some may experience mild, temporary effects. Approximately 20% of individuals treated report symptoms such as fever, fatigue, or flush. The most common side effect observed with IV treatments is fatigue on the day of the procedure. It’s important to note that no permanent side effects have been reported by any of our patients.

Physical therapy may be recommended for specific treatment protocols and provided during treatment. Generally, no medication is prescribed as part of the treatment. However, a post-treatment stem cell enhancing supplement regime may be advised.

Results vary among patients, and there is no guaranteed timeframe for positive outcomes. Some patients report improvements during treatment, while others experience progress up to six months after returning home. However, not all patients show improvement.
